Around the world, Breast Cancer Awareness Month is celebrated in October. It is a time in which awareness around the disease as well as education on how to prevent it or detect it early is punted. We all have mothers, daughters, friends who are woman, if we are not a woman ourselves and this disease does not discriminate. At Future Motor Lease, we are aiming to do our part in bringing awareness to our customers, to remind everyone that we are in this fight together. We’ve pulled together top tips on staying informed and being as aware as possible.
Lead a balanced lifestyle
According to reputable sources like CANSA and The Breast Health Foundation, there are certain things you can do and cut out to help lower your risk of the disease. Leading a healthy, balanced lifestyle that includes healthy eating, exercise and enough sleep will contribute to a healthier you. Cutting out habits like smoking and excessive alcohol use can also help to lower your risk.
Check-ups and early detection
Early detection is key to fighting this disease. Medical professionals will encourage all women to go for regular breast exams and medical check-ups to keep an eye on their breasts. If you have a predisposition to cancer or have breast cancer in your family, it is also wise to go for cancer screening for early detection too.
Prioritise your health
Women, especially mothers, tend to put everyone else’s health before their own. We should encourage the women in our families to live healthily and go for regular check-ups to maintain good health. Never put your health last on your to-do list.
